Bespoke Diamond Engagement Rings in Mumbai

An engagement ring is the most personal piece of jewellery most people ever buy — and the one least suited to being chosen from a case. A bespoke ring is designed around your diamond, your partner's taste, and the moment it marks. This is how it works at our Mumbai atelier.
Why Commission Rather Than Buy Off the Shelf
A ready-made ring is designed for an average finger and an average taste. A bespoke commission exists for everything that average cannot cover:
- A setting built around a specific diamond — its shape, size and character, rather than a stone dropped into a standard mount.
- A design that reflects your partner, not a catalogue — proportions, metal and style chosen for the person who will wear it.
- Heirloom stones, reset — a diamond from a family piece given a new form while keeping its meaning.
Choosing the Diamond
The diamond is the heart of the ring, and the choice rests on the 4 Cs and on whether you want a natural or lab-grown stone. We hand-select certified diamonds — including rare Type IIa and fancy colour stones — each held to our Diamond Standards. Whether you picture a classic round solitaire or something unusual, the stone is chosen first and the ring designed around it.
How the Process Works
The commission follows a considered path, set out in full in The Bespoke Journey:
- A private consultation — in person at our Mumbai salon, or virtually — to understand the person, the style and the budget.
- Design and visualisation — sketches and detailed renderings, refined until the ring is right before any metal is cut.
- Diamond sourcing — hand-selecting the certified centre stone and any accent diamonds.
- Craftsmanship — the ring hand-made by master jewellers in platinum or gold.
What You Can Create
From a single classic solitaire to a three-stone trilogy or a fancy-colour statement, a bespoke commission can be whatever the two of you want it to be. Our engagement rings in the Patron Gallery show finished commissions for a sense of what is possible.
Commissioning in Mumbai
Our atelier works from Mumbai by private appointment rather than as a walk-in showroom, so every commission gets real attention — in person or through a virtual concierge, for clients across the city and beyond.

Common Questions About Kundan
- Can I design a custom engagement ring?
- Yes. A bespoke ring is designed around your chosen diamond and your partner's taste, rather than selected from a case. From the stone to the setting, metal and proportions, every element is decided with you.
- How does the bespoke engagement ring process work?
- It follows four stages: a private consultation, design and detailed visualisation, hand-sourcing the certified diamond, and the craftsmanship. The ring is refined on paper and screen until it is right before any metal is cut.
- How long does a bespoke engagement ring take?
- It depends on the design and the diamond, but commissioning in good time leaves room for consultation, design refinement, sourcing the right stone and the craftsmanship without pressure. We will give you a clear timeline at the consultation.
- Should I choose a natural or lab-grown diamond for an engagement ring?
- Both are real diamonds. Natural stones suit an heirloom where rarity and long-term value matter; lab-grown suits maximising size or sparkle on a given budget. We work primarily with rare certified natural diamonds, but will guide you either way.
- Can I use a family diamond in a new ring?
- Yes. A diamond from a family piece can be reset into a new design, keeping its meaning while giving it a form that suits the wearer. It is one of the most common and most personal reasons clients commission bespoke.
- Where can I get a custom engagement ring made in Mumbai?
- Our atelier is based in Mumbai and works by private appointment, in person or via a virtual concierge. You can begin a commission through The Bespoke Journey or by messaging us to arrange a consultation.
